Blink

Considering today is Friday night and the probability of traffic jamming up on the street may be high, James decided to take his bicycle to visit his friend's place to avoid traffic. He took a shortcut off the road and through the abandoned park. About halfway through the park, he heard a whistle coming from behind, but he ignored it and rode quickly away. Finally, out of there and back on the street where there were people standing around, he looked back at the park from where the whistle had come and saw a man standing perfectly still, wearing a suit and looking right back at him. He assumed a bunch of no-brainers were playing a prank on him, so he shook his head and went straight to his friend’s house.

When he got to the house, his friend was in the shower, so he had to wait outside. Suddenly, there was the same whistle again, but this time it sounded closer than the last one. He turned around to find the suited man standing behind the locked main gate. A little frightened, he remained calm and warned the person to carry their joke elsewhere. He turned to call out to his friend to hurry up and open the door. When he turned back in the direction of the man, he found him standing inside the compound. Baffled by how quickly he got inside, James grew more concerned and alarmed. To avoid any surprises from the suited man, he kept his eyes fixed on him, but each time he blinked, the man moved a step closer. Unable to bear it anymore, James began to shout for his friend to come out.

Just when the suited figure was inches away from James, his friend opened the door to see what all the fuss was about. Right in front of him was James and a silhouette of a man jumping the gate and making an escape. The police were called, but there were no signs of a suited man in the area or at the park. The only trace of the man was the video from the CCTV camera from earlier that night.
