Visitors are urged to cover their mirrors, for they believe these reflective surfaces can become gateways for malevolent spirits.  Villagers speak of people whose image in the mirror behaved with a sinister independence, moving and mocking the true self with a terrifying, twisted glee. Among these haunting stories looms the tale of a boy named Ahmed, whose fate became a grim legend. Drawn to his own reflection, he found himself ensnared in a nightmarish interaction that spiraled into madness. For days, Ahmed conversed with his mirror self, that dark doppelgänger who echoed his thoughts yet twisted his intentions. It fed on his fears, revealing unsettling truths and secrets long buried within him. With every encounter, Ahmed slipped further into despair, his mind unraveling as reality bled into an uncontrollable madness. The villagers watched in horror as the boy's laughter turned int...

Piper of Hamelin

In the quaint town of Hamelin, nestled by dark, whispering woods, shadows danced under the pallid moonlight. The townsfolk were plagued by an insidious infestation of rats, scurrying through the streets, gnawing at remnants of bread. In their desperation, they spoke of a stranger—a piper in tattered finery, whose enigmatic melodies drifted through the night.   He arrived at the brink of their despair, offering to free them from the vermin for a pittance of gold. With a knowing darkness in their eyes, the townspeople agreed, unaware of the chilling power the piper wielded. As twilight fell, the piper lifted his pipe, and a haunting melody resonated through the cobbled streets. The rats emerged, entranced by his music, and followed him away from their kingdom of refuse. As dawn broke, the townsfolk celebrated their newfound freedom. The piper returned, his dark expression revealing his true intentions.  “And now, my payment,”  he murmured, and when they pleaded in va...

The Shadow Man

Image
Sourced from Pinterest Deep in the Ethiopian highlands, there exists a village shrouded in mist and legend. The villagers often speak of a terrifying entity known as  "The Shadow Man." According to local lore, The Shadow Man is said to roam the outskirts of the village at night, preying on those who wander too far from home after dark. It is believed that many years ago, a man named Tesfaye was cast out of the village due to his dark practices and strange rituals. As the story goes, he made a pact with the spirits of the night, seeking power at an unspeakable cost. One stormy night, Tesfaye vanished, and a thick fog rolled in, enveloping the village. Soon after, shadows began to take form, creeping along the edges of the forest. Villagers reported seeing a tall, dark figure lurking just beyond the light of their fires, its presence accompanied by an eerie silence. Those who dared to venture towards the shadows claimed they felt a cold dread, as if being watched by unseen ey...

“Lady in the Red Sari”

In the bustling city of Mumbai, late-night public transport is often a lonely affair. Among the drivers, whispers of the "Lady in the Red Sari" send shivers down their spines. No one knows exactly who she is or how she came to be, but her legend haunts the dimly lit streets. Some say she is a wandering spirit, eternally vigilant, safeguarding the weary travelers of the night. Others claim she is the very soul of the city, watching over the secrets that unfold after the sun dips below the horizon. On a fateful evening, a young driver named Arjun found himself navigating through the winding streets. The night was thick with fog, so dense that even the streetlights struggled to pierce through. As he listened to the rhythmic hum of the engine, a chill ran down his spine. Suddenly, he felt a strange presence. Glancing at the rearview mirror, his eyes widened as he spotted her. The Lady in the Red Sari sat quietly in the backseat, her brilliant fabric contrasting sharply with the sh...

Krampus

One cold December evening, a mischievous boy named Lukas decided to play tricks on his friends and neighbors, believing no one truly feared the tales of Krampus. He snuck into homes, stole ornaments, and played pranks, all the while ignoring the warnings of his elders. As night fell on Christmas Eve, the village was illuminated by flickering lights, but a sense of unease settled in. The air grew still, and whispers of Krampus spread among the children. Lukas scoffed at the stories around the fire, taunting his friends. But deep down, a seed of doubt began to sprout—a feeling that he had gone too far. Suddenly, the temperature dropped and a heavy fog rolled in, blanketing the village. The sound of heavy chains rattled through the streets, sending shivers down Lukas’ spine. Gripped with fear, he bolted outside, searching for the source. Just then, a hulking figure, half-man, half-beast, emerged from the shadows with its eyes glowing with a sinister light. “Lukas!”  it growled in a vo...

Wendigo

Image
Photo sourced via Pinterest    A group of friends ventured out on a winter camping trip. They laughed, shared stories, and huddled around the fire, oblivious to the ancient legend lingering in the cold air—the Wendigo. As night fell, the atmosphere shifted; the wind howled, and an eerie silence enveloped the woods. One by one, the friends fell into an uneasy sleep, but one remained awake, restless and uneasy. Suddenly, a guttural growl shattered the stillness, echoing through the trees. The lone watcher caught a glimpse of a twisted figure, emaciated and towering, with eyes like burning coals. It seemed to slither between the trees, drawing closer and closer. Out of fear, the watcher tried to woke his friends but they merely grumbled, lost in dreams of warmth and feasts. As he tried to convince them, a piercing scream shattered the night. They all jumped to their feet, hearts racing, only to find one of their own had vanished into the snowy abyss. The wind howled louder, carry...

Through sinister encounters, riddles, and a blend of fear and respect, Lin triumphed over each challenge.  However, she would soon learn that Baba Yaga did not possess a heart simple enough to be swayed by fear or kindness. After accomplishing...

The Bubak

Image
Strange reports of a discarded stick figure began circulating in the community, prompting local authorities to urge residents to secure their homes. Some locals speculated that the figure was a Bubak, a folkloric creature, but the police dismissed these claims. For Sui, a devoted single father, the safety of his two children was paramount. He couldn't risk them encountering either a psychotic person dressed as a stick figure or, worse, something out of a frightening folklore that could harm them. Each night, before dinner and bedtime, he made it a point to engage them in discussions about their day at school. Their conversations typically revolved around the usual routine—homework assignments, teachers giving too many instructions, and the occasional school fight. Thankfully, there was never anything concerning, which provided Sui with a sense of relief. However, he remained vigilant about their safety . Every morning, as he dropped them off at school, Sui stressed the importance o...

Tales of Shimla

As the bus sped through the winding,l narrow roads, the traveler noticed the other passengers who upon closer inspection were pale, silent and unmoving, gazing blankly ahead. “Where are we going?"  he bravely asked the driver. Panic surged within him as he turned to the driver, but the man's eyes were void and hollow. An abyss of despair and e...

Madam Koikoi

Power in a typical secondary school lies with the principal and the board of directors. However, Ada quickly learned her new school was different. On her first day at the boarding school, she heard about the literature teacher, Miss Linda, aka Madam Koikoi. She was nickname miss Koikoi because of the sound her stilettos made. Cold and relentless, she instilled fear in students and teachers alike, ruling with an iron fist and rumor had it that fist had met with several faces. Days passed, and Ada struggled to fit in while also staying on her best behavior to avoid Madam Koikoi's wrath.   One night in her dormitory, some girls vented their frustrations about Miss Koikoi's cruelty and invited Ada to join their plan to deal with her. Eager to fit in, she agreed. Their plan involved ambushing her after night inspection. Ada felt grateful that Miss Koikoi's terrible nature led her to new friends. The next day, the girls reminded Ada of their plan, and she realized they were seri...

Mai hate working late and being one of few people to leave the office late. Today was supposed to be her off but she was called in because one of her colleagues called in sick. It’s almost 7:40pm and she has to walk to the bus stop because the her phone went off. Some shops were still open and people were on the street so she felt safe. After waiting for more than 15 minutes, the bus finally arrived but sadly it was full so she had to wait for the next one .  Not too long after the bus left, a woman joined her at bus stop. She was wearing a trench coat and a surgical mask. She stood at the far end without saying a word. After sometime she faced Mai and said “ Not to bother you much but can you tell me if I look ok. I’m meeting up with my mother in law later” Mai politely responded and told her she looks fine. Mai turned to see whether the bus was coming or not. And within a flash, the woman moved closer to her and said “Not to bother you much but do you think my hair is properly kep...
