Melissa was sorting through old family photographs when she noticed something strange. In a picture from her tenth birthday party, three unfamiliar people stood near the fence in the background. She assumed they were neighbors until she found the same three people in a photo from her high school graduation. Their clothes were different, but their faces were exactly the same.
Curious, she pulled out more albums and felt a chill run through her body. The strangers appeared in photos from weddings, vacations, funerals, and holiday gatherings spanning over twenty years. They never stood close to her family, yet they were always present. Stranger still, they never seemed to age.
Melissa scanned the photos and posted them online. The next morning, every image containing the strangers had vanished from her computer. That night, she heard voices outside her house. Looking through the window, she saw three figures standing at the edge of her yard, silently posing as if waiting for a photograph.
